Geocaching
* Geocaching * Adventure * Out & About * Exercise *
I have a new obsession, I would maybe even go as far as an addiction!!!
Although, it is not a new... it has been a thing since the 2000's, so you can say I am very late to the band wagon.
But.. me and my daughter Bille have been doing it for the past month to past time since we have both been going through a hard time.
It gets us both out of the house, finding places we wouldn't otherwise of known about, exercising(when the weather permits),gives us a dose of dopamine and excitement.
If you are not already on the geocache train, I highly recommend it.
If you have kids, even better but still exciting if you are young at heart!
Get them of their stupid games out of the house, and out exploring.
A geocache is an outdoor recreational activity, in which participants use a app or a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver or mobile device and other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers, called geocaches or caches, at specific locations marked by coordinates all over the world.[2] The first geocache was placed in 2000, and by 2023 there were over 3 million active caches worldwide.
Geocaching can be considered a real-world, outdoor treasure-hunting game. A typical cache is a small waterproof container containing a logbook and sometimes a pen or pencil.[4] The geocacher signs the log with their established code name/username and dates it, to prove that they found the cache. After signing the log, the cache must be placed back exactly where the person found it. Larger containers such as plastic storage containers (Tupperware or similar) or ammo boxes can also contain items for trading, such as toys or trinkets, usually of more sentimental worth than financial.Geocaching shares many aspects with benchmarking, trigpointing, orienteering, treasure hunting, letterboxing, trail blazing, and another type of location-based game called Munzee.
It's so much fun!!
You can find Geocaches in all random spots. High and low, in containers, stuck on magnetic objects, hidden within objects.
Billie and I, even when we haven't been able to find the Geocache have found the most tranquil spots.
Have often sat down and just grounded ourselves and had a moment of peace. Here are some photos of us exploring and our finds below.
