SHE'S GOT LEGS, SHE KNOWS HOW TO USE THEM!

LEGS ELECTRIC = MAXIMUM ROCK N ROLL

Logo designed by: Ross Lambrou

Legs Electric: A band that was formed in 2012, with original members. Ama Quinsee (vocals), Kylie Soanes (drums), Laura McCormack (lead guitar), and myself - Abby Soanes (bass).
We played together for five years until, due to unforeseen circumstances Myself and Laura had to leave the band.

So Kylie and Ama were on a hunt to find a new guitarist and bassist. when they stumbled upon Elana Haynes (guitar) and Erin Gooden on (Bass) to fill our shoes and never looked back.

Getting supports for huge acts such as: Uriah Heep, Ace Frehley, Baby Animals, KISS, Wolfmother, Spiderbait, Shihad, Everclear, Abbe May, Electric Mary, 1000 Mods, Thunder.

&

Participating in events such as: Sugarloaf Rock Festival, WAMfests, Highway to Hell.

Legs Electric a band that make's you feel like you've gone through your parents old dusty vinyl collection (in a good way), has been making waves in the Perth music scene. A band who has that unique 70's arena rock sound, that is both nostalgic but fresh.

They bring energy and passion to the stage that is contagious, and they all have a natural ability to connect with their audience.
Every member in the band is a skilled musician in their own right, but together they create a sound that goes together like cheese and wine.

The songs are catchy and well written, with memorable hooks and lyrics that stay in your head long after the show has finished. Almost to the point of that song (baby shark do do do do do do) fuck!!

Legs Electric has gained recognition beyond the local music scene, having had an opportunity to play the RAC arena to support KISS, as well as other well known acts nationally and internationally. They have spoken and played on numerous radio stations such as RTR,96FM and 94.5, and have done so much more.

So follow all their socials, buy a single/album of apple iTunes, go to a show. I promise you, you wont be disappointed.

Ama (Vocals) has a commanding stage presence and knows how to work the crowd. Her strong vocal ability, charisma and the way she connects with the audience and convey's the emotions of the songs, draws the crowd in wanting more. She has so much control over her vibrato when she sings that she would give Freddie Mercury a run for his money

KYLIE: photo by Stu McKay

Kylie (Drums)  The heart beat off the band.Without her they would all be fucked haha. With her own natural flair and technical ability, being able to play a wide array of rhythm and styles, from simple beats to more complex polyrhythms.

Kylie may be petite but she plays harder then any drummer iv'e ever seen.

ERIN: Photo by Stu McKay

Erin: (Bass) Has excellent timing who locks in with kylie as if they were joined at the hip. With her interesting fills, and diverse playing making Legs sound Fat and Loud.

Elana: Photo by Stu McKay

Elana: (guitar) Elana's technical ability on the guitar is surreal and almost perfectionistic. She plays all her solos with such ease that she makes us feel like we can all do it (how wrong are we). With her versatile solos and locked in rhythm, and energetic stage presents makes her mesmerising.

I though I would sit down and have a chat to Bassist Erin, about what has been happening in the world of Legs Electric.

Here is what she had to say....

What's the story behind your latest single/album?

Latest single to be released soon will be Dance like a Wolf, this was an interesting one which we recorded during the Covid lockdown where we had to go and record our individual parts one by one in the studio so we didn't quite follow an "organic" process where we'd all be there together recording on the same day but the vibe came out the way we'd hoped! Dance like a Wolf is a little mysterious, loads of 70's jam vibes and lyrics evoking the dangers of the unknown. Album is definitely on the cards now to be finalised in the next 12 months!

Where did the band name come from?

Kylie can tell you about this story, she's always said it came from a twist on the classic phrase Legs Eleven. I like to think it's because we all have sexy legs and we dial it up to 11 every time haha.

What made you want to become a musician?

Ohhh I think the moment I picked up the trumpet when I was about 10 years old, I loved to make melodies and play in bands, I was hooked!
I learned a few instruments over the years, bass us just so much fun! Being in multiple bands has taught me so much about life and gaining friends for the years to come.

What is the band's story?

You know this one haha.
Since I joined in 2017, myself and Elana are still considered the newbies (kidding) however, we feel like we've been around forever at the same time! So many fun gigs and experiences, wouldnt't have it any other way, i love to rock out with Ama, Kylie and Elana, always have each others backs on and off stage. Im always the one who has weird shit happen to me on tour (lots of silly/funny stories). Elana always makes everything look so effortless, Ama is always up for a laugh and a selfie, Kylie always great with networking and making instant friends, the list goes on!

Do you have any upcoming shows?

Yep, Spliffs and Riffs festival this weekend in Scarborough and Fremantle supporting the amazing Deville band from Sweden who sound bloody amazing! Get on down!

What is your song writing process? - Do all members contribute equally or is there one main songwriter?

Legs Electric collaborate all ideas together. Someone brings a riff or a whole song and we work on it. Songs never stay the same once we begin that creative journey and we have many many versions of every song we have ever written. Everyone has their own style of writing but once we come together the songs become that Legs Electric sound.

Can you tell me a little bit about each member of the band, and their role within the group?

Kylie: drummer extraordinaire and amazing with back up vox.
Ama: Our lead singer, also fantastic at our costuming ideas/design.
Elana: Guitarist who is passionate about perfecting her solos and brings the goods to every gig.
and Moi, Erin (Ezza is my nickname) midget on the bass, but i love to rock out large and come up with multiple backup harmonies for every song.

What do you feel sets your band apart from other bands in your genre?

Well apart from the fact that there are not many female hard rockers out there, I like to think our musicality makes us stand out to be Australia's leading ladies of rock, we put on a show and deliver every time!
I think we've demonstrated this when we supported rock gods KISS at the RAC arena and other killer gigs with Aussie rock royalty Wolfmother, Spiderbait, The Superjesus, Shihad (NZ),plus many international touring acts when they've come to Perth. Not many bands in the local scene have had these opportunities so i feel very grateful for these gigs.

Whats the best show or tour you've ever played and why was it special to you?

Recently we did a mini tour with Everclear when they came to WA and it was so much fun! So nice to chat with the guys about the music scene overseas and learn some invaluable tips from them. Everclear's guitar tech Marcus, had some amazing stories for us from their tours and life on the road. Obviously the KISS gig was epic and one to never forget. Playing to a full arena was mind-blowing. We didn't have time to be nervous, just had to get up and blow everyones sock off!

Do you have any funny or interesting stories from being on the road that you can share with us?

Yes but I'd be too embarrassed to tell you haha!
Ok, here's one, always be prepared to learn or play a song from a band you're about to support! We were doing Sugarloaf Rock Festival in Margaret River and Elana being the amazing guitarist she is, was asked by Andrew to jump on stage for Joke and the Thief about 30 mins before their set, Elana quickly races backstage for her guitar, i'm screaming on Google to find guitar tabs for her to double check the solo, then we hid away in the gear truck side of stage for her to practise but she had the song already in her fingers, muscle memory from her years of cover gigs. She smashed it!!

Do you have any advice for young musicians starting in today's industry?

Don't be scared to join a band, even if you don't feel ready. The best times are ahead. Don't doubt yourself, work hard and you will achieve more then you set out to do!

What kind of equipment do you use?

Cherry Red Gibson SG bass, not a vintage EB-0 but it's my trusty workhorse, doesn't let me down.
Eden WT205 Time Traveler and Eden 2x12 for all gigs, looking to upgrade. What do you recommend Abby?

What's next for your band?

Finish our album then perhaps a trip to Europe ;)

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Find your rock tribe and have a bloody good time!!

Thanks so much Erin xx
