Come fly with me, let's fly, let's fly away

ANXIETY

If you are anything like me who get's anxious when having to leave the comfort of your "safe" place. Thinks the plane will crash, Something bad will happen while your away, have emotional melt downs in general about leaving everything behind...

Here are some tips that can help you keep your cool before flying.

No this will not stop your anxiety, but it may help you stay a little more calmer.

1. GET A GOOD NIGHTS SLEEP THE NIGHT BEFORE:
Everyone know's even if your not flying, not getting a good nights sleep can impact your emotional state greatly making you feel frustrated, depressed, have difficulty concentrating etc:

2. DISTRACT...DISTRACT...DISTRACT:
Keeping yourself distracted during the flight is a must. Have a movie marathon, read, make an iTunes playlist.

3. DRUGS...DRUGS...DRUGS:
ha ha not that kind ;)
if you can, speak to your doctor about something to take before and during your flight to take the edge of your anxiety like vallium. You can also try natural medication too.
If you have never taken anything like this before natural or not I would try it a few days before to make sure you don't have any unwanted side effects.

4. BREATHE:
Practise breathing techniques especially on take off and landing:
Exhale holding your breath for a count of 4...., then inhale blowing out for a count of 4.... Do this for a minute and concentrate just on your breathing and nothing else.

5. GET TO THE AIRPORT WELL AND TRULY ON TIME:
For domestic flying it is always recommended to get to the airport an hour before take off, and for International its 2 hours.
I always give myself an extra half an hour on top of those times. You will already be stressing out about the flying part so making sure you can casually make your way to the airport, check in, go through security with spare time on your hands. will make you feel better in the long run. There is nothing worst then rushing.

6. CHECK YOUR FLIGHT DETAILS:
Always keep checking your flight details to make sure there isn't a sudden boarding call as the plane has arrived earlier or that the gate number hasn't changed etc:

7. CHECK IN EARLY:Youd ddd
You can Check in, in most cases up to 72 hours before flying. Check in online. Not only do you not have to line up in those horrible long lines, it makes the process a lot faster, easier and smoother.

8. ALCOHOL:
For most people having some alcohol will help relax them. Don't go overboard though.

9. FACE THE FACTS:
YES it's scary...its scary as hell!!
but hey if you don't do it you will regret it. You won't get to see our beautiful world.
So get out there, you can do it!!
Like I always say If we crash we crash....nothing much I can do about it, lets just hope its on the way home after a nice holiday hahaha....

PEACE XX
