YOMI SHIP EP LAUNCH

Progressive . Psychedelic . Rock . 3 piece . instrumental

Yomi Ship are a three piece instrumental band from Perth Western Australia. Since forming in 2016 they have exceeded the Perth music scene above and beyond, and are only continuing to go further.

With brothers Jarred Osborne on Guitar , Nick Osborne on Drums and Jade Champion on bass, these three gel together as if they have been playing together for years.

I recently asked Jarred some questions about there upcoming EP Self-titled "Yomi Ship", being released on the 17th of November at The Odd Fellow in Freo, joining them on the night are Ryan Beno and Post Depression Makeout Session.

QUESTIONS

1. What does your band name mean, and where did it come from?
It's actually from a card game called Yu-Gi-Oh that Nick and I used to play a lot of when we were younger. It was Nick's special card that he always used to play and win with.

2. Who are your music influences?
We have so many influences but the main ones that influence our music most would be The Mars Volta, Pink Floyd, Karnivool and Tangled Thoughts of Leaving. Those would be the 4 bands I say would influence our music the most.2

3. When and why did you start playing?
Nick and I, being brother have grown up playing in bands together almost our whole lives. It was at our last show with our old band about 4 years ago when we met Jade and she introduced herself as a bass player. 2 years later after that band ended we started getting into more experimental style music. After jamming in our rehearsal room for too long we decided we actually needed to make this band, so we called Jade to fill in for bass duties and everything just clicked from the first jam.

4. You recorded with Ron Pollard at Studio Sleepwalker Dread, what was it like working with him? Did he use any particular recording techniques?
It was amazing! We wanted to go and record with him because as well as Tangled Thoughts of Leaving being one of our main influences, we also liked the bands and sound that was coming out of his studio. He was very welcoming and took care of us, he also has a very sweet dog which was the best.

5. Are there any "crazy" behind the scenes anecnfrom the studio that you cab share with us?
Not really haha.

6. Are you happy with the final out come (sound production wise)?
We are very happy with the EP and can't wait to release it. With the added sounds and textures from our man Ron, this EP sounds amazing.

"So if you want to see an awesome local band, get on down to the Odd Fellow November 17th and give yourself a listen to this awesome band!!!"

Thanks so much for the chat Jarred xx
