SKY GARDEN & ABBEY ROAD LONDON

LONDON CITY .SKY GARDEN . ABBEY ROAD . FUN . FAMILY . BANK HOLIDAY

On Monday May 28th 2018 it was a bank holiday in England. So my English family and I decided to hit London Town.

At first it was a cold and overcast day, but by the time we arrived in London it was beautiful weather.
We drove to Stratford station to catch the train to St John Wood station to go to Abbey Road!!
It was only about a 5 minute walk from the station to Abbey Road.

Feeling excited was an understatement.
Seeing the crossing for the first time was amazing knowing the one and only Beatles walked across this exact zebra crossing.

Also seeing Abbey Road studios (a studio I would love to one day record in haha pipe dreams), the Abbey Road wall with the thousands of fans who have signed it, and even the Abbey Road shop was awesome.

Me at Stratford Station before heading off to Abbey Road

ABBEY ROAD:
I have always wanted to go to Abbey Road, after all that is what I was named after.

My dad is a huge Beatles fan and named me Abby (minus the e) after the Abbey Road album. He actually wanted my first name to be Abby Road but my mum wasn't a fan of it, but she liked Abby, so Abby is what I got.

Abbey Road in London - famous for the Beatles Album " Abbey Road " released on the 26th September 1969. Also probably one of the biggest conspiracy albums due to the cover. Which also created the hoax "Paul is Dead" rumour. Why?
Well....below is some of the said rumours behind the cover:

1. It’s a funeral procession: The "Paul is Dead" conspiracy reading was that the image represented a funeral procession- John, in white, is a priest. Ringo, in his black suit, is a pallbearer. Paul, also in a suit but barefoot, is the corpse. Denim-clad George is a gravedigger.

2. The Cigarette: Paul held his cigarette in his right hand, even though he is  left handed.

3. Pauls not wearing shoes: in some cultures the dead are buried without their shoes.

4. The License Plate: In the background you see a Volkswagen Beetle with the plate "LMW 28IF" Conspiracists claim this to mean that Paul would be 28 if he were alive.

5. The Police Van:Parked on the side of the road is a black police van, which is said to symbolize authorities who kept silent about Paul's fatal fender-bender.

6. The girl in the blue dress (back of album):On the night of Paul’s supposed car accident, he was believed to have been driving with a fan named Rita. Theorists say the girl in the dress featured on the back cover was meant to be her, fleeing from the car crash.

7. The Broken Beatles sign (back of the album): The band’s name written in tiles on a wall and there’s a crack running through it. Of all the symbols, this one turned out to be the most meaningful, and sad. Although the release of Abbey Road was followed with ample evidence that Paul was alive and well, what the public didn’t know was that The Beatles had secretly broken up. Abbey Road would be the band’s penultimate studio album, and the group would call it quits only a year later.

SKY GARDEN:
This buildings agriculture is truly unique (they actually call it   " the walkie talkie tower " due to its distinctive top heavy shape). A public space that spans three storeys, 155 metres (up to the 35 floor) and offers a 360 degree of uninterrupted views across the City of London, and is London's highest public garden.

If I was to choose three words to describe this I would say,  COOL - BREATHTAKING - QUIRKY.

As you first exit the lift (and unblock your ears) you a rewarded with a big open space, beautiful tropical terrain, a 360 degree view of the picturesque London city....and if your thirsty and hungry you have three restaurants to choose from.

If you haven't been here, or you are traveling to London soon put the Sky Garden on your to do list. You won't be disappointed.
