AMY

Amy Winehouse

The other night I watched the documentary Amy, a 2015 released film about the struggles and life of the British singer-songwriter Amy Winehouse.

This documentary starts with home footage of Amy in 1998.

13 years later drugs, booze and bulimia have taken its toll on her small frame. In between we watch and listen to Amy's soulful and infectious voice pour her heart out to her music, that would capture the attention of the world.

Things change when she moves to Camden, north London, in 2005, where Winehouse meets future husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, who introduces her to heroin and teaches her that “life is short”. Soon, the couple are in a toxic relationship.

The rest is an ongoing battle between angels and demons, bouts of chaotic addiction with episodes of clear-headed lucidity, punctuated by Tears Dry on Their Own and Back to Black.

Amy to the saddest of the world joins the "27 club". The singer was found dead in her flat in Camden, North London on the afternoon of Saturday 23rd July 2011. They found 416mg of alcohol in her system.

This rather heavy documentary left me feeling saddened for Amy. She was an amazing woman with an amazing voice...that just fell in love with the wrong guy!!
I highly recommend you watch it, if you haven't already.
