Thanks to my sister Kylie Soanes, she told me about a event happening on October 28th 2017....and.... it's all about SAUSAGE DOGS!!!!

As some of your know I have a dachshund named Frankie. A mischievous, smart, naughty, cute, loyal and loveable little girl.

On October 28th 2017 Longdogs WA are holding a annual fundraiser event at Karinya Equestrian Park Orange Groove. If you have a dachshund or not, you should come down and enjoy the event and help raise some money!

Long dogs WA are a group dedicated to the Dachshund dog breed that regularly raises funds for the welfare and re habitation of Dachshunds. Longdogs WA support among others, Dachshund Rescue Australia to re home dogs all over Australia and Story Book Farm in Queensland who treat injured dogs and animals

I decided to ask Peter the Executive committee some questions.

QUESTIONS:

1. What do you love about Dachshunds?

What do I/we love about Dachs. Well you should know as you have one your self. 

We have had 7 at the last count and at present we have Lilly and Stefan.

I think any dog is a wonderful member of your family. Its a friend and gives unconditional love if treated properly. 

Have you noticed when you take your dog for a walk the interest from the public is like no other.

2. Tell me about your event happening on the 28th of October?

The Fundraiser in October is our big event with stalls and games.

Its needed to keep our Longdogs group afloat, the monies raised also help DRA and Storybook farm in Queensland among others. Look them up on Google.

3. Do you have any advice for anyone wanting to get a Dachshund?

Advise on purchasing a hound. We have a big problem in WA with back yard breeders .

Who are only interested in profit. So we are experiencing dogs that are poorly bred and they need lots of after care.

Anyone wishing to own a Dachie should do there homework on the breeder and the dogs parents and history.

dont buy from a pet shop. We did 20 years ago when we bought Eve and our first Lilly. Eve was sick from day one and needed lots of care.

Also you should buy pet insurance  for you dog operations are very expensive.

Micro chip your dog and register it with the council.

4. Are there any groups or websites that people can join/look at to find out more about Dachshunds?

Our Longdogs Group in WA is a good start we have a web site with lots of information and we hold monthly walks.

Talk to people that have a Dachie we are only to happy to talk about the breed.

Its a breed that has special needs and care. Its a dog that will love you for its life and attach to you like no other.

5. Is there anything you would like to add?

Anyone wanting a Dachshund should do the homework first and exam-in the home that it will live in and  are you willing to willing to walk feed and care for it every day.

One plus is you will never need a door bell when you own a Dachshund.
